Don’t blame others Sir Richard, look closer to home
After reading Digital Spy report on @richardbranson’s attack on Sky TV, it saddens me that he (whom I respect a great deal) blames Sky in much the same way as he did British Airways … the two are not the same.
The simple fact is that Sky TV can be used by anyone in the UK, Virgin Cable cannot; if cable covered the same territories then there would be a fair argument for anti-competitive behaviour but they will never beat Sky or come close due to the fundamental technology they have and the cost in pushing it to others … what is their investment in rural cabling by-the-way, or in-fact any new cabling (instead of upgrading existing infrastructure).
Personally I would love the choice, but I have none so I am stuck with Sky (which I am happy with anyway at the moment) … but it would be nice for some competition to drive prices down a bit.
Its simply not Sky’s fault, it is only Virgin’s fault and that will never change as I do not see Virgin ever cabling non-metro areas.

Isn’t the argument that the cost to access the Sky-owned premium channels is too high for Virgin to be able to offer at a commerically viable rate to its cable customers … which in turn may make people in cabled areas chose to go Sky rather than a readily available cable?
If that is a valid argument then it may well be that the dominant supplier is stifling competition.
The original article is a recent opinion piece from FT (not sure how long it remains freely available).

I really cant understand that argument … it makes no sense whatsoever.
If that is the case Virgin are admitting they have a crap service because the only way they can compete is to supply the far superior content of a competitor …. but then they moan because they dont like the prices. If I was Sky I would say sod-off, create your own and compete!
Therefore, perhaps they should concentrate on creating their own content and their own channels. Clearly they cant at the moment, but with some focus and resources it should be possible … Virgin1 being a good example of a crap channel which they wanted to compete with Sky 1; other than Terminator The Series there hasnt been a single programme I have felt any inclination to watch.
Fix the problem rather than blame others for it!

Sorry for the Off Topic.. I am an italian blogger that review many twitter clients.
Twitcher is a great Twitter Client but it isn’t complete. If you want that Twitcher become the best twitter client for windows (and for mac, but I think that Tweetie is unbeatable) I suggest you to add:
-Twitlonger support (because no Twitter client has got the twitlonger support)
-Possibility to view photos and profiles directly in the application
Twitcher has got a great design, I think that its design is better than Saezuri’s design (in my opinion the best twitter client for windows, for now)
